But You Shall Receive POWER!

By Blake Higginbotham – 4-22-2012

Question; Have you ever felt like something is missing? jkh

“We have become who we are apart from Him, and now we grown accustomed to operating and functioning without the POWER of His presence in our daily lives!” blh

Acts 1:8 – But you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Note: One of the reasons that the body of Messiah in general is presently operating at a deficit in POWER is because we have resisted to the point of rejecting Holy Spirit and His supernatural empowerment. We have settled for revelation knowledge, the wisdom of this world, and the undeniable reality that something is missing.

Acts 4:32-33 – Now, the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.  And with great POWER the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of Sovereign Yahshua.

G1411–Strongs- δύναμις dunamis doo’-nam-is; force, miraculous power, ability, abundance, meaning, might, miracle, power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.

G1411 δύναμις dunamis Thayer Definition: strength power, ability, inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth, power for performing miracles, moral power and excellence of soul, the power and influence which belong to riches and wealth, power and resources arising from numbers, power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts

Note: Another reason that the body of Messiah in general is functionally powerless is because most of us have very little in common and we are not of the same heart and soul. In short, we are self-centered, egotistical and arrogant, and we have come to believe that the measure of our worth is found in accomplishment and achievement.

“We have come to believe that the value our individual mandates are more important than the sum of our corporate worth.” blh

Something we need to consider is, these power gifts and manifestations are usually carried by apostles, prophets and evangelist, and the fact still remains, that they are not broadly received or accepted by the general body of Messiah. Therefore it makes sense that the gifts of healings and the working of miracles may not be fully operational in the body, because they were not embraced by this generation, and have been all but lost to the general body of Messiah.  It has been suggested, that these mantles fall to the ground if there is nobody in place to receive them, and they may lay dormant for years or decades unless someone picks them up again.

Many apostles, prophets and evangelist have gone on to their rewards not having someone in which to impart or release these mantles and anointing’s. I am not saying that these mantles and anointing’s in any way are limited to a few gifted people; but I am addressing the problem and deficit that we are facing with truth that is worthy of consideration.

1 Corinthians 2:1-4 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of Yahweh. 2For I determined not to know anything among you except Yahshua Messiah and Him crucified. 3I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the POWER of Yahweh.

Much of what is being preached in this day and hour is not the gospel of the Kingdom, and therefore is powerless to make reproduce after a Yahweh kind. The socially acceptable and politically correct message that is currently being preached is so diluted and weak that it has no real power to transform lives or change worlds.

Multitudes have heard the good news; but have failed to come to a saving knowledge of the truth. Many of those have come to a saving knowledge of the truth; but have not followed through in obedience to the baptism of Holy Spirit. Some have come to a saving knowledge of the truth; but have never had a conversion experience. Repentance leads to conversion, and true conversion comes when we are changed in the moment by the power of Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 4:20 – For the kingdom of Yahweh is not in word but in POWER.

Power-G2904-Strongs– κράτος kratos krat’-os -vigor [“great”], dominion, might, power, strength.

Power-G2904 κράτος kratos Thayer Definition: force, strength, power, might: mighty with great power, a mighty deed, a work of power, dominion

2 Corinthians 4:7– But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the POWER may be of Yahweh and not of us.

2 Corinthians 13:4– For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of Yahweh. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the POWER of Yahweh toward you…Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Yahshua Messiah is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. 6But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.

Ephesians 6:10 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in Yahshua and in the POWER of His might.

Philippians 3:10-11– [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the POWER outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] 11That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].  Amplified Bible

House of Honor-Pt 1

By Blake Higginbotham – Passover – 2012

2 Timothy 2:1-6 & 14-26You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Messiah Yahshua. 2And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (The cycle of true discipleship is not completed until the one being discipled, disciples another) 3You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Yahshua Messiah. 4No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 5And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.6The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.7Consider what I say, and may the Sovereign give you understanding in all things.

Note: This passage of scripture was personally addressed to Timothy; but it truly captures and speaks to the heart of the father/son relationship. Paul (spiritual father) instructed Timothy (spiritual son) to commit the things that he had received to faithful men in order to complete the cycle of discipleship. He instructed him to prepare to suffer hardship and not become entangled with the affairs of this life. He instructed him to work and serve in a way that represents the heart of the father, and to be a partaker of the first-fruits. Paul asked him to consider what was being said in light of receiving a better understanding of all things. While the language of this passage of scripture sounds authoritative and commanding, it actually is filled with very encouraging and endearing words.

14-26 – Remind them of these things, charging them before Yahshua not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.15Be diligent to present yourself approved to Yahweh, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.17And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

Note: This is a fatherly reminder not to engage in conversations that have no eternal value and will serve to damage your credibility, or destroy the hope and faith of others. We need to avoid talking about things that are based on conjecture or supposition and we need to be careful to rightly handle the word of truth in a way that Honors and Glorifies Yahweh. That includes corrupt communications and immoral conversations of any kind. We also need to be reminded that everything that is factual and true is not necessarily something that needs to be discussed in an open forum, or mixed group of people. Our lives and conversations need to revolve around Glorifying Yahweh as we edify one another in Him. We are the glory bringing hope to the world in which we live, and when we show up they need to see Him!

19Nevertheless the solid foundation of Yahweh stands, having this seal: “Yahshua knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Messiah depart from iniquity.”

1 Corinthians 3:10-13 According to the grace of Yahweh which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Yahshua Messiah12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

“The security of the foundation is directly related the stability of the structure” blh

Note: The consuming fire of Yahweh’s presence is testing the temper and proving the integrity of our lives and work in this hour and the only thing that will be left standing at the end of the Day will be that which is built and established on the revelation of Messiah Yahshua, the Solid Rock Foundation” blh

20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.22Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on Yahshua out of a pure heart.

Note: The time has come to show forth the value of our worth by becoming a living witness to the praise of His Glory. That will involve separating ourselves from anything and everything that defiles, corrupts and contaminates. It will require a deep cleansing our hearts and souls in order to be qualified and set apart for the master’s use. In order to occupy an honored position in His house we must first become vessels of honor. He is presently looking for vessels of honor in which display, demonstrate and distribute throughout the earth.

23But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24And a servant of Yahshua must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if Yahweh perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

House of Honor – Pt 2

By Blake Higginbotham

1 Peter 2: 9 – 17 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10who once were not a people but are now the people of Yahweh, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 11Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. 13Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for Yahshua’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.15For this is the will of Yahweh, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men 16as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of Yahweh.17Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear Yahweh. Honor the king.

Honor – G5091 τιμάω timaō tim-ah’-o – to prize, that is, fix a valuation upon; by implication to revere:—honour, value.

Honor – Is the value that others place on you as a person and your worth will be determined by the weight of the contribution you make in their lives. Bestowing or conferring honor on another dignifies them with a sense of great worth. Highly esteeming one another is to be prized as precious and valuable.

John 4:44 – For Yahshua Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. 45So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things He did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they also had gone to the feast.

Note: Yahshua Himself recognized that He was without honor in his own country; but that does not mean that He was not honored and highly esteemed by others. His priceless value may not have been recognized by those in his own country; but wherever He was received, His great worth was realized.

[Ex. He was worth His salt and His weight in gold!]

John 5:19-23  Then Yahshua answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. 22For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Note: This also applies to the sent ones who come to us by appointment or assignment, and it is not limited to the ordained ministry gifts of Yahshua to the Ekklesia. Also, in no way does it exclude or devalue the contributions that we share corporately. Receiving sent ones requires receiving gifts of men. With receiving gifts of men, we are receiving the message and burden they carry. Therefore, when we receive gifts, we receive men, as well as the empowering grace of their message. Within these gifts come anointings that have the power to break every yoke of bondage off of our lives and the benefit of being properly trained and equipped for the real works of service is truly priceless.

Note: Honor is not about taking authority or lording over Yahweh’s people. It is not about forcing others to honor and respect your office, gift and part. It is not about demanding that others highly esteem you over another, nor is it about bestowing honor on someone out of obligation. Honor and respect are earned and mutually shared and embraced; they are not the man-given rights or privileges of a few aristocratic demi-gods.

John 5:31-44 “If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. 32There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. 33You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. 35He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light. 36But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. 39You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

40But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. 41“I do not receive honor from men. 42But I know you, that you do not have the love of Yahweh in you. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. 44How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only Yahweh?

John 8:54-56Yahshua answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your Elohim.

Render honor to whom honor is due…

Romans 13:  1-7 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from Yahweh, and the authorities that exist are appointed by Yahweh. 2Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of Yahweh, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4For he is Yahweh’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is Yahweh’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are Yahweh’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

1 Peter 5: 1-7 I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what it’s like to be a leader, in on Christ’s sufferings as well as the coming glory. 2Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. 3Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way. 4When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he’ll see that you’ve done it right and commend you lavishly. 5And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for—God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people.

6So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. 7Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

Bestowing and conferring honor on the lessor parts;

1 Corinthians 12:12-26 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Messiahs. 13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14For in fact the body is not one member but many.15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18But now Yahweh has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19And if they were all one member, where would the body be?20But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24but our presentable parts have no need. But Yahweh composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

[I remember a time not too long ago, when apostles and prophets were treated like unimportant, insignificant parts of the body of Messiah. I have also lived long enough to see them elevated to prominence and received at some level]

My concern is two-fold. 1). The prophetic has a tendency to assume that just because they saw or heard something from a far, off that they have a right to stake a claim in it when it comes to fruition 2). The apostolic has a tendency to assume that just because it is their turn at bat, that they are the only player in the dug-out and therefore the only ones who can bring us home. J

My position is both of them are mistaken, and just because the prophetic saw and heard something from a far off is no indication that they have squatter’s rights, or control for the moment. Instead, they should be identifying the apostolic fathers and directing sons to make the connection while coming into agreement with the greater apostolic/Kingdom purpose. The apostolic also needs to understand the importance and significance of the all of the ministry gifts of Yahshua to the Ekklesia, and work to reform the structure and restore our rightful place in the work.

In recent months, I have come to a better conclusion concerning the ongoing work and training and equipping the saints for the real works of service. That said I am not sure at this point, if we are ready to hear and embrace the reality of that conclusion. At this point it suffices to say that while we are making some headway it looks like we are way too comfortable with the present operation, and turning up the heat may be necessary to burn out of us the dross that so easily clogs the pipes of forward progress, and limits the advancement of the Kingdom.

Romans 12:9-13 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.10Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. TLB

Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good.10Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle. TMSG
