Re: What does the Scripture teach about riches, wealth and prosperity?

Psalm 112:1-3  Praise Yahweh! Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh, Who delights greatly in His commandments.2His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed.3Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.

Wealth- H1952 הוֹן hôn BDB Definition: 1) wealth, riches, substance 1a) wealth 1b) price, high value 2) enough, sufficiency

Riches H6239 עֹשֶׁר ʽôsher BDB Definition: 1) wealth, riches

Proverbs 8:17-21 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.18Riches and honor are with me, Enduring riches and righteousness.19My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver.20I traverse the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, 21That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries.

Wealth/Substance-H3426 יֵשׁ yêsh BDB Definition: 1) being, existence, substance, there is or are 1a) substance 1b) existence 1c) there is or are

Proverbs 13:18-23 Poverty and shame come to a person who ignores discipline, but whoever pays attention to constructive criticism will be honored. 19A fulfilled desire is sweet to the soul, but turning from evil is disgusting to fools.20Whoever walks with wise people will be wise, but whoever associates with fools will suffer.21Disaster hunts down sinners, but righteous people are rewarded with good.22Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the wealth of sinners is stored away for a righteous person.23When poor people are able to plow, there is much food, but a person is swept away where there is no justice.  A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

A good man causeth sons’ sons to inherit, and laid up for the righteous is the sinner’s wealth. YLT

Luke 16:1-13  He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.2So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’3“Then the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.4I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’5“So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’6And he said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’7Then he said to another, ‘and how much do you owe?’ So he said, ‘a hundred measures of wheat.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’8So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.9“And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.10He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.11Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?13“No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Mammon- G3126 μαμμωνᾶς mammōnas Thayer Definition: 1) mammon 2) treasure 3) riches (where it is personified and opposed to God)

Note: Upon closer examination of this passage, I am persuaded that it has been grossly misquoted and taken out of context on more than one occasion, and that for the purpose of talking about the love of money and the things money buys.

In context, this story reveals the true nature of the heart of the unjust steward who was wasting his master’s goods by dealing unjustly in the way he was doing business with others. When it came down to answering to the master for his wasteful and irresponsible stewardship, he was commended for how he rectified and settled with those whom he had dealt wrongly. It is obvious to me that Yahweh is the master in this story, and we are the stewards of His business in planet earth. The question is, will be just and responsible stewards, or will our stewardship be removed because we were unjust and irresponsible stewards? I think that it is important to understand that even if we have not always been good stewards, that our stewardship can be restored by being honest and dealing squarely with others. We also need to understand that if we have not been faithful in what is what is another mans, who will give us what is our own?

11Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

This above passage of Scripture indicates that the true riches will never be entrusted to you unless you are a good steward of unrighteous mammon.

The unjust steward loved skimming profits and taking advantage of people more than he loved, honored and respected his master, and it cost him his place in his master’s business. While he was commended in the end the story does not reveal as to whether his stewardship was restored or not.

Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember Yahweh your Elohim, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Wealth-H2428 חַיִל chayil BDB Definition: 1) strength, might, efficiency, wealth, army 1a) strength 1b) ability, efficiency 1c) wealth 1d) force, army

We must remember that Yahweh gives us power to obtain wealth, and the wealth of this world is being stored up for His sons and family?

Kingdom Provision & Economy!

Have you ever noticed that Kingdom Provision is directly related to natural resources? blh

That’s right. Yahshua said, “bring me what you have” He will not require of you what you do not have; but He may require of you all of the ready resources you presently have available.

Several decades ago, I was introduced to a ministry who believed and lived supernatural multiplication. It became a teaching that a friend of mine lived and died believing. In more ways than not it opened me up to so many truths concerning the Everlasting Covenant of the Kingdom and how highly blessed and favored we are as a people. They had constructed a building made out of hand-hewn Italian marble and covered the pillars of that facility with real gold. They also constructed a covenant baptismal house and its walls were covered by every precious stone named in the bible. It was a part of their testimony and they openly shared how Yahweh had blessed them over the years by supernaturally multiplying love offerings before their very eyes or by adding large sums of money to their depleted bank accounts.

However, in order enter the Tabernacle of David or be included in a corporate worship service you had to be dressed in a certain way. They had a clothes rack in the back of the building that served to fulfill that requirement. I can truthfully say that they sincerely loved Yahweh and His People, and they were sold-out and totally committed to Him and one another; but their old fashion, legalist approach to life and community limited their influence and did not change the world in which they lived. One good thing that came out of my visit was, I came away with a better understanding of the Everlasting Covenant of the Kingdom, Water Baptism and received enough Faith and Courage to continue fulfilling my calling and election.

The truth is my friend and I never really saw supernatural multiplication work for us the way that it worked for them; but it was not because we were not looking and reaching for it. That said, we did see supernatural provision and the blessing and favor of Yahweh flowing in and through our lives at a level that was unprecedented at the time. My friend died a while back, and I sang at his funeral. While visiting, I had the privilege of sharing with the widow of the man who built that Tabernacle of David that I was a part of her husband’s living legacy. I also told her that I truly had been a recipient of the covenant blessings of Yahweh and that I had baptized over 100 people into the Everlasting Covenant of the Kingdom.

The Bottom line is there is no magic formula or wand to wave. We are still not yet asking the right questions, whereby we may arrive at the correct conclusions someday. We are still limited by our own comfort zones and paradigms, and we are now coming into a time where the rubber meets the road. 2012 will prove to be a year that will separate the men from the boys as it pertains to living by faith, and it will awaken all of us to the reality that we have not been living out of the Spirit, or the blessing of His covenant.

We must now turn in our hearts while there is time. We must make the changes necessary to move into a position to receive Yahweh’s Kingdom provision. At this point we are the human resources, and each of us has a part and place in meeting the needs of others.

Kingdom Resources – Pt 1

By  Blake Higginbotham

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of Yahweh and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. NKJV

Note: This passage of scripture if taken out of context implies that if you seek (put) first the kingdom of Yahweh that everything you need and want will be added to you. Is that what is says to you? What does this passage of scripture really say? Read it is context!

Matthew 6:19-34 “Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. 20 Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. 21It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. 22“Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. 23If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have! 24 “You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both. 25“If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. 26Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.27“Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? 28All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, 29but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.30“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? 31What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving32People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. 33 Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.34“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. TMSG

  • How was the ministry and travels of Yahshua and His disciples funded?

Luke 8:1-3 Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of Yahweh. And the twelve were with Him, 2and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 3and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. • How were believers and families of the local work provided for in the early Ekklesia?

Acts 2:45-47 Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles!   44And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common.   45They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met.   46They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful,   47as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved. The Message Bible

  •  How were the poor families in other regions provided for in the early Ekklesia

2 Corinthians 9:6-10 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”10For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. NLT

2 Corinthians 11:7-9 Is it a sin that I abased myself in order for you to be exalted, in that I proclaimed God’s Good News to you without fee or reward?   8Other Churches I robbed, receiving pay from them in order to do you service.   9And when I was with you and my resources failed, there was no one to whom I became a burden—for the brethren when they came from Macedonia fully supplied my wants—and I kept myself from being in the least a burden to you, and will do so still. MSNT

Romans 12:9-13 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;12rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;13distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

Luke 6:38 –Give, and {GIFTS} will be given YOU, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will they pour in (the pouch formed by) the bosom (of the robe and used as a bag). For with what measure YOU deal out – that is, with the measure YOU use when YOU confer benefit on others – it will be measured back to YOU. Amplified Bible

Kingdom Resources – Pt 2

By Blake L. Higginbotham

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of Yahweh and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. NKJV

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry (be anxious or fearful) about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Ref. Matthew 6:19-34

  • Have you ever noticed that Yahweh’s supernatural provision is somehow directly or indirectly tied to our available resources? That’s right! He uses the things within our reach to meet us at the point of our need.

The Wedding Feast – Water into Wine

John 2:6-10 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7Yahshua said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

Note: This was the first miracle that Yahshua performed, and it involved several factors.

1). The servants were instructed to do whatever Yahshua told them. (The Word)

2). They had to be willing listen and fill the waterpots. (Hearing)

3). They had to be willing to draw some out. (Obedience)

4). They had to be willing to take it to the master of the feast. (The Work)

Question: Was the water turned into wine when they filled the waterpots or after they drew it out?

Answer: I believe that the water was turned into wine at some point after they drew it out, and as they were taking it to the master of the feast.

Result: When the master of the feast tasted the wine he said, “You have kept the good wine until now.”

Lesson: Hearing and obeying the word produces an atmosphere in which the supernatural can work. Turning water into wine was no cheap parlor trick and the proper emphasis needs to be placed on the fact that the miraculous flows out of a totally surrendered heart, and fully consecrated life.

  • Signs and wonders are a direct result of hearing, obeying and walking out His word. Miracles will be common place in our lives when possessing the power to perform them is no longer an issue. To be honest with you, signs, wonders and miracles are more for the unbelieving and immature than they are for the believing and mature. The supernatural should never be over emphasized or exploited in order to acknowledge and verify the presence and glory of Yahweh, and it most certainly does not validate the word being spoken as absolute truth.

Feeding the Multitude–Bread & Fish

Matthew 14:17-21 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” 18He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

John 6:8-15 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, 9“There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”10Then Yahshua said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11And Yahshua took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”13Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Yahshua did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”15Therefore when Yahshua perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.

Note: With this miracle, over five thousand people were fed and satiated by the supernatural multiplication of two fish and five loaves. Now we have two thousand fish and five thousand loaves and don’t have enough left over to help seven people. It may be that we need to rethink what we are doing in light of that which lacking, wanting and coming behind.

Romans 12:9-13 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;11not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;12rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;13distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

Luke 11:9-13 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Matthew 17:24-27When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?” 25He said, “Yes.”And when he had come into the house, Yahshua anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?” 26Peter said to Him, “From strangers.” Yahshua said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

Question: Was the fish already waiting with a coin in his mouth even before the disciples agreed to go fishing, or was it simply the uncommon way that Yahshua chose to pay their taxes? I believe that the disciples’ ability to hear and obey the word and step out by faith caused the necessary resources to appear in the fishes’ mouth. If the disciples would not have heard and obeyed the word, would the gold coin still be in the fish’s mouth until somebody else caught him.

Answer: When the disciples heard and obeyed the word to go fishing, it was something with which they could identify and wrap there faith around. If they had not heard the word or gone fishing, then there would have been no provision made available for paying their taxes, and the gold coin would not have been in the fishes’ mouth for someone else to receive. Both the fish and the resource would have been lost to the Kingdom of Yahweh.

Lesson: No matter how outrageous the word sounds at first, step out on it by faith, and the necessary resources will be made available to you.

John 21:1-13  After these things Yahshua showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: 2Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4But when the morning had now come, Yahshua stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Yahshua. 5Then Yahshua said to them, “Children, have you any food? ”They answered Him, “No.”6And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 7Therefore that disciple whom Yahshua loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10Yahshua said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”11Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12Yahshua said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord. 13Yahshua then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.

Question: Were the fish already in position before Yahshua told them where to cast their net, or did they swim into the net when Peter heard and obeyed the word to cast his net on the right side of the boat?

Answer: I believe the answer is both. Yahshua knew where the fish located, and Peter heard and obeyed the word to cast his net on the right side of the boat.

Lesson: Hearing and obeying His voice is more important that anything you are doing at the time. It is a matter of life of death as it pertains to life and ministry. The problem as I see it is, somebody is not listening, or we just don’t trust Him as much as we should. One way or the other we need to get real and ask some hard questions about Kingdom Resources.
